2020 East Hill Cabernet Sauvignon

Blazing sun. Steep slopes. Lots of clay. Not much soil. Lone Hill is perfect for growing Clone 30 Cabernet Sauvignon, one of California’s most distinctive and colorful heritage grapes.  

The east and west side of Lone Hill are each a little different, with the fruit on the east side having a more pronounced eucalyptus or minty profile. 

Redolent of plum, blueberry, sweet rosemary, and a very subtle hint of molasses, framed by toasted barrel essence. On the palate, a burst of mouth-coating blackberry, black currant, roasted poblano, and vanilla bean husk dominates mid palate. Plush tannins, firm structure, and a smooth, almost leathery texture complement the core of acidity and tobacco leaf finish. This wine could age well through the decade.
