2021 Clone 30 Cabernet Sauvignon
As a rule of thumb, Cabernet Sauvignon wines are intense and bold. Wines made from the heritage clone “Clone 30” are exceptionally so. We harvest, barrel, and bottle clone specific wines so that we can become better acquainted with the unique personalities in our vineyards. Our Clone 30 is a chance to see the interplay between the “East Hill” and “West Hill” blocks coalescing in a single wine.
The result: in 2023, our Clone 30 is “singular,” and “intense,” as noted by winemaker Julian Halasz. Its also a bit more fruit focused that previous years. Aromas of just ripe marionberry and blackcurrant pour out of the glass. Take a sip, and you’ll encounter that the wine is rich in tannins, full bodied, and concentrated, moving towards plum, black currant, fennel, silvermint, and allspice. Let this wine unwind a bit before drinking: cellaring is best, but if you wish to drink it now, we recommend decanting it. Wines like this are the inspiration of our “Triple Cab” club tier, which will receive three bottles: one for exploring now, one to drink in a year, and one to cellar for years to come. Cellar through 2036.
