2022 Stone Patch Cabernet Franc
There's something decidedly "Old World" about this vintage of our Stone Patch Cabernet Franc. Perhaps it's due to the fact that the vines are finally entering into the "old vine" territory. The 2022 features a very well integrated aromas of cherry pie, nutmeg, and "Livermore Valley garrigue," which means it smells reminsicent of the sage brush and grasses of our growing region. You can also find suggestions of raspberry, juniper and mocha—it's hard to tell where one aroma begins, and another ends! This continues through the bone dry palate, where hints of Turkish coffee, bay leaf, and blackcurrant lead into a black cherry finish. This wine may be lighter bodied than its Sauvignon cousins, but it's acidic, quite tannic, and has a generous, silty texture. We suggest you cellar it further, to fully explore its depths.
