2023 Wine Without Borders Grüner Veltliner

To be released January 31st, 2025, as part of the Quarter 1 club release. 

Swirl your glass, and you'll notice the 2023's pronounced minerality right from the get-go, along with aromas of asian pear, apple blossom and lemon pith. Grüner Veltliner is a cousin of Sauvignon Blanc, and you can see the resemblance in their sharp, refreshing acidity. Grüner, however, is full of surprises, and offers a white wine "spin" on some red wine traits. Grüner is famously peppery, and features a generous mid-palette, the likes of which you usually only find in red wines. Our 2023 goes even farther: it was barrel aged in acacia wood, has a light amount of tannins. This vintage features a classic, peppery palate with hints white necatrine, melon, and even a zip of shallot greens.

Our winemaker grew up making Grüner Veltliner with his family outside of Budapest, who have been winemakers for generations. The Triska Vineyard is one of the Kent family's estate vineyards, and is a unique microclimate: it is consistently a few degrees cooler than the neighboring sites, and runs along an arroyo that attracts fogs and brisk, coastal breezes longer than neighboring blocks.
